The New York Giants have been in the depths of NFL obscurity for far too long. Over the last 15 years, the Giants made the postseason just three times. Yes, one of those was a Super Bowl win in 2011, but that was the last time this team did anything of relevance.
This year, though, there is some hope around the team. Joe Schoen brought in veteran quarterbacks Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston, Malik Nabers is entering his second season, and the rest of the offense got a makeover, too. Adding guys in the draft is always part of the process, and Jaxson Dart is finding ways to connect with his weapons, both physically and emotionally.
Cam Skattebo walked with Kay Adams of the “Up and Adams” show Tuesday and she said people are claiming he and Jaxson Dart are perfect. He didn’t disagree.
“You know, the first day we met, he asked to headbutt me. He looked at me and said, ‘I want to head butt you,'” Skattebo said.
“We were doing a head butt yesterday, and he was doing an interview and he’s like, ‘Skat.’ And he just looked at me and we just headbutted each other.”
“Without helmets?” Adams asked.
“He’s almost as crazy as me,” Skattebo laughed.
Adams went on to plead with Brian Daboll to put an end to the madness, and then asked Skattebo how Daboll fits in with the “menaces that you two are.”
“He’s the king of it. You know, he’s a little menace himself. Not everyone sees it, but we do,” Skattebo said.
Skattebo is an incredibly physical individual, and now it’s a routine for the two to headbutt every morning. However the players do it, creating a bond with teammates is one of the most important aspects of any team sport. The more intimately you know someone, the more time you spend with them, the more in-tune you are to how they think and what they might do next. That translates on the field and will create an ease of implementation with new faces to the organization.
The quarterback room is apparently good enough to have its own reality TV show, and it seems like that fun, “boys-will-be-boys” type of team. Now we just have to see if they can turn all of that into winning games.
